Masked Parade

Children from our class and other classes throughout the school participated in the Nelson Masked Parade. We had been working on our masks and sashes for the last part of last term. We marched and performed to the song 'The World is Black, The World is White'. Our sashes were made to represent cultures from around the world. Our World was being carried on a stretcher to represent the effects of climate change.

Brook Sanctuary

Last Tuesday Room 10 went to the Brook Sanctuary .We did a walk, it was about an hour.We learnt about traps and plants. One of the plants was kawakawa,we ate it. There were 4 sorts of traps we learnt about,one squashes the possums head together. They're going to build a fence that goes around the whole sanctuary and that will stop the pests from killing the native birds. We made kawakawa tea. It smelled horrible but it tasted nice. We learnt that rangiora was the bushmans toilet paper or bushmans friend. We learnt that tutu is poisonious and killed an elephant from a visiting circus.

Helping in the garden

Today we went to our school garden to plant flowering plants that will give off a scent to stop the bugs from eating the
vegetables. We will start planting more flowers and vegetables later in the term.
Later in the afternoon we went to the school garden to plant sunflower seeds. And we raked afterwards so you couldn't see our footprints.
We planted some other seeds a week ago. We took heaps of pictures of the ones that had sprouted.
The sunflowers are growing very well. When they have flowered and seeded we will use the seeds to feed the birds.

Rm 10s shared lunch.

Hi we had a shared lunch on the 24th of September. On Thursday we did a topic called"HEALTHY LUNCH RECIPES". We had to choose a healthy recipe and had to see how much it cost. Everyone had to bring a plate of healthy food so thats why we had a shared lunch. DELICIOUS By Chloe and Leah.

SUPERMARKET

On Monday Room 10 went to the supermarket because we had to look at food prices for recipes. I had pizza. Yummy!  After that we went to Isel Park and had lunch.  Sam hurt herself and Alec's dad had to take her to school.  At Isel Park we played games . Then we went back to school.

Skipping

Last Friday Room 10 went skipping with Room 1, our buddy class. It was very fun. We did long ropes and some people used the short ropes.

Science fair project

We had a fun science fair week and there were lots of crazy experiments. One of my favorite experiments was Keegans and Alecs Volcanic eruption AKA Coke and mentos. And another experiment also in our class was the gobstopper project which was Natalia's and Sam's project. In the hot water the gobstopper melted the fastest and the cold water melted the slowest.

Jump Jam

On  Friday 7th we  did  Jump  Jam.  Today  we  did  Camp  Rock and it was the last day of doing Jump Jam. It was fun. Jane and some other children stood up the front of the whole entire syndicate to show everybody what to do.

Variety Show

Hey Crocodile was Room 10's dance for the Variety Show. It was a fun night. We had a rock band  and we all had face paint on to make us look like crocodiles.

Pirate Day

On Friday, wow what a day, there were heaps of crazy pirates they, looked spooky. There were lots of pirates. It was like a pirate school. It was creepy.Then we had an assembly. It was funny and Mr Power was giving out balloon's. They were black. Mr Power was wearing a shiny gold earring.We even had a pirate song it was Yo Ho Diddle I Dum Clap Your Hands and Away We Go.

Our New Classroom

We are in our new classroom and we are happy to be back. Campbell and I have been taking photos of our class. The toilets are GREAT because they are new and the light goes on automatically. The walls -they are really soft and very blue. They have painted the classroom as well.

Our class is getting decorated so we are in the library. This is our special classroom. We have to look after this special classroom. It is fun in the library.

Eco Friendly Mower

For my homework task I designed an eco friendly lawnmower. It works by pushing the pedals forward on the bike. My dad got the bike and the lawnmower from his work. The person who helped me make the bikes name was called Will.

Real Germs

A few weeks ago we interviewed a man called Peter. He had some photos of real germs that are micorscopic and one is in our stomach and one is found in the soil.He also told us that people are cutting down forests in Thailand to plant pine trees.

Middle Syndicate Sports

This week we started syndicte sports. I played scatter ball, it was fun. Next time I will have fun too. Some of the game's are cricket, volley ball and long ball. Next time I want to play long ball.We play sports every wednesday.We go into groups that go to an activity and play for fun.

The Big Fat Cow

Last Wednesday we went to the Suter Art Gallery to see the Cow Exhibition. It was cool. We learnt about the letters on the cows like M for meat and A for Apple.
We cut out our cows and coloured them in and laminated them . We did most of the work at school and some at the art gallery.

The water fight

Last Thursday we had a major water fight (and don't forget the swimming)

First we went swimming and we had to bring flotation things like chilli bin lids so we could float on top of the water.

Then we went out for a major water fight! We squirted each other with our water guns, sponges, buckets and cups.

All the boys and girls were screaming in the changing rooms! Aaaaaargh!

Swimming at School

We go swimming every day at school. We play games in the shallow pool. We have a diving board.

Our class won the interclass relays in swimming.

Golden Child

We have learnt how to play Golden Child. Here are some rules.

There is one special person that gets picked as golden child and two taggers.

If the taggers tag you you have to go sit down.

If the golden child gets tagged the game is overand if you get tagged by the golden child you're in again.

Everybody loves the game.
