Our class takes turns to write about the things we are doing in our classroom and around the school. We hope you enjoy finding out about our learning at school.

Clay Cars On Rocks Road
Rocks Road was very busy, quirky clay cars were traveling in both directions.
A horn tooted and cars began to chug past. Engines revved and accelerated
as the cars began to speed along. Horns were blaring a warning, some cars
sounded like train engines, some whizzed along while others chugged and
cruised slowly. There was even an aeroplane taxiing along the road. All was
going smoothly until one ignored the dangers of texting, a skid and
catastrophe on Rocks Road.

Then we got some slip and stuck it on. Slip is clay and water mixed together. Next we we made the roof. Then we got a straw and made the head lights. Then we wrapped them up in gladwrap.

My Colour!!!
1. Purple is a colour!
2. As the blue sky shone like a star, I try to look at the sun glowing against the blueness.
3. The green wall comes in handy when we do green screening!

Colour
1. The green grass is as bright as a toxic pit.
2. The brown fence is very boring and dark.
3. Although the skin colored wall is bright, it is no brighter than the color of our skin.

We put stones on our post. We had a white rock to start off with. We got to design them. The class used three and four different colours. Mrs Cowley stuck the rocks on the minture post. Eddie and Jojo stuck it on our oringinal post that we had. Then all the flax is opposite all the posts the classes own.

Rolling Down the Hill
We are off to Nayland College. Room ten and Room six get to roll down the hill. Yes! We all say when we get there. Next Jancie says the rules then Room six goes right across the hill to the other side of it. Then the two classes roll down the big hill. We go round and round until the end. Then we go back up the hill. Tai tries to rolly polly down the hill and he makes it! So I pat his back and say nice roll!

Making Hacky Sacks
Yesterday Room 10 and Mr Davis and Mrs Cowley made hacky sacks. My one was really cool and now i'm going to tell you all about it.
First I had to get a balloon and put a little air into it and then fill it up with rice. After that I put a knot in the balloon and pushed it in. Then cut a neck off another balloon, then put it around the balloon with rice. Then do the exact same thing with one more balloon.
Then I got a permanent marker and drew a face on it, some eyes, mouth and nose and you're finished. You have a hacky sack.
If you make a hacky sack what would you put on it?

Chocolate Zucchini Cakes
In Room 10 we do cooking. Last week we made chocolate zucchini muffins out of the marrows in the school garden. Every body liked them so much we all wanted seconds but unfortunately there was not enough. Mr Davis is such a good teacher he helped us cut them up so we all got to have more. What I liked most about the muffins is the chocolate button on top.

Our Monarch Hatches
Monarch Hatching on PhotoPeach
When a monarch butterfly hatches it slowly creeps out of its chrysalis and dries off its wings. It takes a little while to get all of its blood in to its wings, then it flies away in to the sky.
We saw all this happening in our class last week when our butterfly hatched. We had had it in class since it was a tiny caterpillar. It turned into a chyrsalis and then hatched as we all watched. We then put it out onto a flax plant and it flew away when it was strong enough.

Beach Day
On Thursday the middle syndicate went to Tahunanui Beach. There where 6 activities: sand castles at the shore, cricket, volleyball, sand creations, relays and petanque, playground.
Playground
I went to the playground first. it was with Mrs Cowley. I played on the tyre swing with Charlotte. I also played on the concrete runner.
Sandcastles at the shore
We ran down to the sandcastles at the shore and took off uniform so we were in our togs. We went down to water and started digging the moats of our castles. My castle was about half a metre tall. Charlottes castle got destroyed because she built it too close to the water.
