WOW Week Eureka

In WOW week we did science- it was very very fun. My favourite thing was the floating and sinking in Room 6 and 7.In the Room 7 floating and sinking I used my handball. In Room 8 we did what balls had the most energy- the answer was basketball. I think it did that because its bigger and it has more weight than the tennis ball. In Room 10 we did lung capacity- it was fun.

In WOW week we did lots of exciting science things. First we made chicken noises out of plastic cup, string and a paper clip. The noise was caused by a vibration. This is how we made it. We got a cup and Mrs Cowley and Mrs Belt made holes in the bottom of the cup. We got the string and put it through the hole. We tied the paper clip on the string on top of the cup. We got a tissue, we wet it then we pulled it down and it made the chicken noises. Some of them didn't work that well.

Readers Theatre: Shark Attack

As a reading rotation we practice reading a script to encourage us to use expression in our voice and eye contacty with the audience.

 We hope you enjoy watching this readers theatre performance.

The Classroom

In the classroom when your all alone 

while  the other kids do cross country training 

all you can hear is people laughing and excited  

and the clock ticking 

and that is what you can hear.

The good thing is no teachers are yelling 

and we don't have to do spelling .

Thats what I can hear in a classroom.

WOW Week: Flight

On the 8^th May Richard talked about the albatross. (Gabrielle)

At night the albatrosses have to get their food, do you know why? Because at night the squid come up to sit on the surface of the water and then it is easier for the albatrosses to get their food. (Tegan) The interesting thing was that they have very light wings. (James) Albatrosses can take off on land and sea. (Torenzo)

Albatross can smell up to 2000km away. That’s like from Nayland Primary School to Sydney. (Tahana) My favourite part was watching Cooper try to fly with the humungus white wings. (Tim) 

Woven Characters

In our class we made woven characters out of black and white paper.

First we had to have black paper and you can choose to have straight lines or squiggly lines.If you want straight you get your ruler and rule a line at the top then under that line you rule as many lines as you can but don't make them too fat or too skinny.If you want squiggly you do the same and rule a line at the top and underneath you do squiggly lines without a ruler. Then you cut the lines that you drew. Then you get as many white strips of paper as you need and start weaving in and out . When you have finished that row you do the opposite to the second row. So if you started under your now going to go over. And you keep doing that until you get to the bottom . Then you push all the white strips up to the top and then sellotape them. Once you've done that you close it up to make a cylinder shape and then staple the bottom and the top.

Then you start to make a face to do the eyes you cut out circles out of some scrap paper and do the same with the pupils. Then cut half a circle for a mouth . Then if you want you can cut some arms out. Then for the finishing touch you can make some hair and cut some lines up the paper for the wavy loaks and you can curl them if you want and glue your hair on.
